A "stand-up" is TV reporter jargon for any shot that requires the reporter to be on camera, talking to the viewer (not just narrating via voice-over). Odds are, we won't have to do these, and if we do do them, it will be a rare thing.
That said, shooting your own stand-up, without the help of a cameraman, is hard even for a pro TV reporter. To help out, here's a good list of tips from Steve Mort, a journalist and videographer based in Orlando, Fla.
