News scripts available online

A number of news stations across the country make their scripts available to the public. Here's a list of some that I found. They might be handy to study later as we write our own scripts.

  • NBC2 News in Fort Meyers, Fla.
  • WCAX in Vermont
  • WCHS, an ABC affiliate in Charleston, W.Va.

Scripts are, of course, different than transcripts. Scripts tell us what the newscasters planned to say; transcripts tell us what they did say. Usually, the major news networks and outlets make their transcripts available, either through their own sites or through search services like LexisNexis.

I think the scripts themselves are more valuable for our purposes because they will give us clues as to how to format our own material for our video news packages.

I'll update this list as I find more sources of scripts, and I'll see if I can't find some local ones too.
