A Harvard study of 300,000 Twitter users showed similar results. That team found that more than half of Twitter users seldom posted to the site -- less than once every 74 days. Data from Nielsen shows that a lot of people who create accounts never come back to them.
"The Harvard data says very, very few people tweet and the Nielsen data says very, very few people listen consistently," Bill Heil, a graduate from Harvard Business School told BBC News.
