A reminder, tomorrow morning we meet at 10 for a little tutorial with iMovie, the program many of you will be using to produce your videos for the News Service.
The version of iMovie we'll be using is going to be iMovie HD, which as far as I can tell came out in 2006. If you have a Mac and have a newer copy of iMovie, such as the '08 or '09 version, your video creating experience may differ.
Of course, there's still a small chance that we might get a newer version of iMovie installed on the computer, but Mark has said that, no matter what, iMovie HD will be available to use. Most of the people who review such software say that HD ('06) was superior to '08, but not quite as good as '09.
Point being: You may want to take every opportunity you can get to familiarize yourself with iMovie HD. Here are a few tutorials for you to check out.
- University of Texas-Austin has a pretty comprehensive tutorial online.
- Apple itself has put up a tutorial for this older software.
- Apple also has its iMovie HD manual posted online in PDF format.
Of course, I'll say it again -- and a few more times in the morning: The best way to learn new software is to get in there and play with that software. Have fun. Experiment.
Oh, and if you happen to have iMovie on a computer at home, go ahead and play with that too. While it might be a bit different from the HD version, it will no doubt still be an educational experience.
And if you're stuck on a Windows-based computer at home? Well, you could play with Windows Movie Maker, which is usually found somewhere in the Start > Programs > Accessories menu. I've never used it, but it too could be instructional.

imovie HD. I think it is an older version...my computer is about 2.5 years old, so that puts it at Dec 06. So, imovie HD 2006 is my guess. I could probably look it up somewhere instead of babbling here....
