The end of the American Internet

The U.S. government's agreement with ICANN expired on Sept. 29, meaning that America has more or less given up control of the network its universities and military created.

I think this is worth noting, at least in passing. It's not every day that most of us think about the massive network that our precious World Wide Web runs on.
