Twitter experiencing timeline delays

Twitter’s experiencing some “timeline delays” this morning that make it feel like you’re Tweeting into the void, Peter Kafka notes on his Media Memo blog. I’ve heard a couple similes this morning that fit pretty well. First: We’re all, individually, the sole survivors of the Twit-pocalypse, winding our way through a depopulated but still functional Twittersphere. Second: Twitter has introduced instances, like World of Warcraft’s instances. Each user experiences his or her own version of Twitter that’s unique to them.

Silly stuff, and a bit of an inconvenience, but Kafka notes that this isn’t unusual. In fact, bugs and downtime like this used to happen to Twitter a lot. It’s just that, with more people using Twitter, the company’s under a lot more pressure now to get things working.
